Karen began event planning in 2005 for a major insurance company for 1,100 employees. Her passion began when planning annual holiday parties, festivals, recognition events, United Way campaigns, fundraising activities, volunteer projects and planned more than 20 events for the employees each year. In 2009 she had a career change and has been event consulting and coordinating for clients through her business Mainstream Events & PR Firm.

Karen started her business in Virginia but also travels to California to coordinate events and will travel to assist her client’ needs.

Karen earned her BS in Technical Management concentrating in Hospitality Management from DeVry University in 2009 while working full time and raising a family. She graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Karen believes in giving back to the community and joined Professional Association of Businesses (PAOB) to focus on community development. She is on the Board of Volunteers where she can help plan the unique programs that help our community. Karen has worked on PAOB’s projects: The Citizen Care Program, Youth Enrichment Tour, Envision Youth School Supply Give-A-Way, and has attended all the Small Business ADVANCE workshops in Virginia and North Carolina.

Karen is also involved in other professional associations such as International Special Events Society (ISES) to keep up with the trends in the special event industry and to connect with other event professionals and Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary where she can assist families in need through fundraising and volunteer service projects.
